Conditions Treated

At Advanced EYE CARE Center

At Advanced Eyecare Center in Urbandale, serving Johnston, Clive, Waukee, Urbandale, and surrounding West Des Moines areas, we encourage patients to schedule regular eye and vision exams. These exams are so important because it allows our optometrist to diagnose and treat eye conditions at its early stages since many of them show little to no symptoms. Below are the common eye conditions we treat at our optometry center.

Conditions Treated At Advanced Eyecare Center

Diabetic Retinopathy

When the blood vessels in the back of the eye leaks fluid or bleed, blindness or vision loss can occur. If left untreated, your retina can become damaged or scarred. Symptoms include decrease in central vision, blurry vision, and unable to recognize colors.

Dry Eyes

Dry eye occurs when the eyes does not produce enough tears to lubricate itself. Eyes can become easily irritated, red, and itchy.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is caused when there is too much pressure in the eye. A sudden increase of pressure can result in headaches, nausea, vomiting, redness in the eyes, blurry vision, and throbbing eye pain.

Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration is an age-related disease that weakens a patient's central vision. People with macular degeneration tend to have difficulty in reading prints, glare sensitivity, and fuzzy vision. There is no cure for this disease, however, the progression can be slowed down with eye care treatment.

Cataracts

When the protein in the lens start to break down and clump together due to age, a cloud forms in that area. This cloudiness in the lens can be corrected with surgery.

LASIK

LASIK surgery can correct refractive conditions like astigmatism, farsightedness, and nearsightedness. At our optometry center, we offer pre- and post-LASIK care.

Nearsightedness and Farsightedness

Nearsightedness is when a person cannot see objects clearly from far away. Farsightedness is when a person cannot see objects close up. Both can be corrected with contacts, glasses, and surgery.

Eye Infections

Eye infections, such as pink eye, can make it hard to see and do day-to-day activities. Our optometrist can prescribe you with the right treatment option for your eye infection.
